Why Is My Bank Not Showing in Account Aggregator, and What Do Lenders Do Instead?

Account Aggregator works only for banks that have joined as data providers. Many co-operative and rural institutions are not yet live, and a live bank can still fail on a given day, so lenders keep a PDF or passbook route.

Problem

A borrower cannot find their bank or account in the Account Aggregator journey, so the lender cannot fetch the statement digitally.

How It's Resolved

Causes are bank not live, account type not covered, mobile number mismatch, consent timeout or temporary downtime; only the first two are outside the borrower's control.

Configuration

Fix what can be fixed, such as the mobile number or a retry; otherwise switch to a net-banking PDF, stamped statement or scanned passbook.

Output

The application continues on a document route, with the lender verifying and reading the file the same way as AA data.

Account Aggregator (AA) works only for banks that have joined the network as data providers. Many co-operative banks and rural credit societies are not yet live, and even a live bank can fail on a given day. That is why lenders keep a PDF or passbook route ready, and why a missing bank does not end your loan application.

Why might a bank not appear?

Coverage is thin in some places. Sahamati’s certified-entities list, retrieved on 4 August 2026, named only 2 co-operative banks against about 1,457 urban co-operative banks in India, and no primary agricultural credit societies (PACS) against roughly 1,01,524. By contrast it named 28 regional rural banks, about the full national count after the 2025–26 amalgamations.

What will the lender ask for instead?

Lenders usually accept one of three documents, in this order of preference:

  1. Net-banking PDF. Downloaded from the bank’s website, often password protected. It carries the bank’s layout and is easiest to verify.
  2. Stamped branch statement. Printed by the branch and signed and stamped by an officer. Common for co-operative banks without net banking.
  3. Scanned passbook. Photos or scans of passbook pages. The lender needs OCR (software that reads text from an image) and checks that pages run in order with no gaps.

Ask the lender which months it needs. Six or twelve months is typical; supplying the full period first time saves a round of questions.

Worked example: a trader whose bank is not on the list

Ravi, a hardware trader, applies for a ₹6,00,000 working-capital loan. His main account is with an urban co-operative bank that is not live on AA.

He uploads twelve months of stamped statements. The lender’s team:

  • Unlocks nothing (the statements are paper scans) but runs OCR on 24 pages.
  • Checks that each page’s closing balance matches the next page’s opening balance.
  • Tests one month: opening balance ₹48,200, credits ₹3,72,500, debits ₹3,61,900. ₹48,200 + ₹3,72,500 − ₹3,61,900 = ₹58,800, which matches the printed closing balance.
  • Totals twelve months of business credits at ₹42,30,000, an average of ₹3,52,500 a month.

From there the review is the same as for AA data: EMIs, cheque returns, cash deposits and cash flow. Ravi’s application takes an extra day or two because of the document checks, but it is assessed on the same footing.

Does the PDF route hurt my chances?

It changes the work, not the standard. A clean, complete, readable statement is assessed like AA data. What causes trouble is missing pages, unreadable scans or balances that do not add up. The Account Aggregator vs PDF comparison explains why lenders treat the two differently at the start.

How can you make the fallback route quicker?

  • Download statements straight from net banking rather than forwarding them through apps that may compress or re-save the file.
  • Share the PDF password with the lender through its own channel, not in the file name.
  • For a passbook, scan every page in order, including pages with no entries, and make sure the printed balances are legible.
  • If you hold accounts at two banks and only one is on AA, use AA for that one and upload the other. Lenders can combine both.

TransactIQ reads AA data alongside PDF and scanned statements, including PSU and co-operative bank formats, so lenders can review every applicant in one place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I find my bank in the Account Aggregator app?
Most often because your bank has not joined the network as a data provider, or has joined but is not connected to the particular aggregator you are using. Small co-operative banks are the most common case.
My bank is listed but no account appears. Why?
The aggregator finds accounts using your mobile number. If the number registered with the bank differs from the one you used, or the account type is not covered, no account will show. Update the mobile number at the bank and try again.
Will the lender reject me if my bank is not on Account Aggregator?
Not for that reason alone. Lenders keep a fallback route: a net-banking PDF, a stamped branch statement or a scanned passbook. The review takes longer because the document must be checked first.
Are regional rural banks on Account Aggregator?
Sahamati's certified-entities list in August 2026 named 28 regional rural banks, which roughly matches the national count after amalgamation. Being certified does not guarantee every journey works every day, so failures can still happen.
How long should I wait if the bank shows but the fetch fails?
If the failure looks temporary, such as a timeout, try again later the same day or the next day. If it keeps failing, ask the lender for the PDF route rather than repeating the attempt many times.
