Indian finance teams shortlisting Osfin or an alternative often compare feature lists without testing the India-specific streams that create most exceptions.
Read what each vendor publishes, then run the same five India tests on your own data: TDS against the credit statement, UPI narrations, NEFT and RTGS narrations, ERP exports, and scanned bank PDFs.
A reusable decision table listing each test, the evidence to give the vendor, and what a pass looks like.
A shortlist based on evidence from your own sample data rather than on vendor names or headline claims.
Osfin presents itself as a reconciliation and financial operations automation platform for banking, payments, fintech, insurance, capital markets, gaming and retail. If you are looking at Osfin alternatives in India, the useful question is not “which brand” but “which tool passes the India tests that matter for my streams”. This page lists what Osfin states publicly, groups the alternatives by type, and gives five tests you can run on any vendor.
For background, see how to evaluate reconciliation software in India, the 15 vendor selection questions and reconciliation infrastructure versus software.
What does Osfin say publicly?
Everything below comes from Osfin’s own pages, checked on 14 October 2026.
- Its home page FAQ says the platform covers ACH, deposits, loans, payments, invoices, trades and more, and the site lists solution pages for 7 sectors: banking, payments and cards, fintech, insurance, capital markets, gaming and retail.
- The same home page states “over 170+ integrations” through a low-code platform and lists ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, GDPR compliance and 256-bit SSL encryption.
- Its payments and cards page names card, UPI, net banking, wallet, buy-now-pay-later and payout reconciliation, plus refunds, chargebacks and multi-leg settlement, and describes file ingestion from email inboxes or SFTP folders and an open API architecture.
- The home page shows testimonials from Indian businesses, including PharmEasy, and its footer names Beeworks Softwares Private Limited.
These are real strengths for a payments-heavy business: wide connector coverage, multi-leg settlement and a stated security posture. On the pages we read, we did not find a public page on TDS matching against Form 26AS or Form 168, on NEFT or NACH narrations, or on a named Tally connector; ask the vendor directly.
What are the alternatives, by type?
| Category | Fits when | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-sector reconciliation platforms (Osfin is one) | High volume across many sources and settlement legs | Confirm India tax streams on your own data |
| India-native point tools (for example TransactIG for TDS and bank-to-books) | TDS and bank-to-books are the main exception sources | Scope beyond the delivered streams |
| ERP or accounting-software features | Low volume, one bank, one entity | Narration matching and TDS netting are often manual |
| In-house build (Excel, Python, SQL) | Strong data team, stable formats | Key-person risk and audit trail |
Many Indian teams combine two categories: a platform for settlement volume and a point tool for TDS.
Which five India tests should you run?
| Test | What to give the vendor | What a pass looks like |
|---|---|---|
| 1. TDS against the credit statement | One quarter of receipts plus Form 26AS (or Form 168 from tax year 2026-27) | Net receipt plus deducted tax tied to each invoice, mismatches listed by deductor |
| 2. UPI narrations | One month of statement lines with UPI references | Lines matched on reference, not only on amount and date |
| 3. NEFT and RTGS narrations | Statement lines with UTRs and truncated remitter names | UTR used as the key; truncated names still matched |
| 4. ERP export | Your Tally or SAP ledger export as-is | Ingested without manual reformatting |
| 5. Scanned or co-operative bank PDFs | Two statements from smaller banks | Lines extracted, with balances that tie to the closing balance |
Ask for every result as an exportable exception list your auditor can review. The same tests appear by stream on the Simetrik alternatives page.
How would a payments company apply this?
Take a payments company with 6 Indian bank accounts, around 40,000 statement lines a month, and 120 enterprise customers who deduct TDS before paying. Tests 2 and 3 matter, but tools that publish UPI coverage will often handle them. Test 1 is decisive: if the deducted tax is not tied back to each invoice and to the credit statement, unclaimed TDS credit builds up quarter by quarter across those 120 deductors. On the first call, ask: “Show us one deductor’s quarter, from invoice to bank credit to the credit statement, on our file.”
Which Indian records sit behind these tests?
Most India tests trace back to a handful of statutory records. TDS deducted by customers under Section 194C (contractors), Section 194J (professional or technical fees), Section 194H (commission) or Section 194Q (purchase of goods) appears in Form 26AS for periods up to 31 March 2026 under the Income-tax Act, 1961; from 1 April 2026 the Income-tax Act, 2025 applies and tax year 2026-27 onward is reported in Form 168. Deductors issue Form 16A as the certificate. Books of account must be kept under Section 128 of the Companies Act, 2013, and customer payment data falls under the DPDP Act, 2023. Any vendor you shortlist should show these records on your file, for FY 2025-26 and the first quarter of tax year 2026-27.
How did we write this?
We used public sources only, checked on 14 October 2026, and quoted no pricing, customer counts or performance figures. Osfin is welcome to send corrections and we will update the page. How Terra Insight fits
TransactIG delivers TDS reconciliation and bank-to-books reconciliation, with an exception queue, audit-ready exports and configurable industry presets. GST, payment-gateway settlement and NACH reconciliation are on the roadmap, so a payments-heavy team may pair TransactIG with a settlement platform. We offer a representative-sample fit benchmark on tests 1 to 3; see TDS reconciliation software.
